Curious, opinionated, keenly observant and always thought-provoking, Debbie Millman is partner and president of the design division at internationally acclaimed brand-identify firm Sterling Brands. She’s also a board member of the national AIGA, and teaches at the School of Visual Arts and Fashion Institute of Technology. When she’s not hosting the weekly Internet talk show Design Matters, she’s blogging, writing a column for Print magazine or speaking to rapt crowds of designers. The author of How to Think Like a Great Graphic Designer (2007), Millman recently published The Essential Principles of Graphic Design, which features 35 case studies from the world’s best designers. As host of Design Matters, Millman brings design to life by letting her guests speak to their experiences and influences. Just as good branding keeps the spotlight away from the creative work itself, Millman notes themes, intersections and high points – but always keeps her guests and their stories front and center.
