Sunday, April 12th, 2009 by Nobuya Sato
June 18, 2009
7:00 pmto8:10 pm

I will be speaking myself about the profession of Japanese IA at CSS Nite, on June 18th, 2009, which will be held at Apple Store Ginza. My talk will be in Japanese. It’s free of charge, but the seats are limited for only 180.

” Information Architect
- the Past, Present, and the Future of IA”

by Nobuya Sato, Experience Designer

Now, several Japanese Web Design agency have Information Architect title in their organization. Since many IA related resource are in English and a few translated IA books in Japanese, Japanese web industry still think Information Architect as a profession who draw the sitemaps or a non design staff who update the information on wireframes, so designers or project managers can discuss about the design ideas. Even new IAs themselves think IA is the profession defined on the 1st Polar Book… I will try to explain the background history of IA, why and how many global agency emerge into this profession (with my experience with agency such as iXL, Sapient, and Razorfish), pros and cons of IA, and so on.

Demystifying Information Architecture (WebDU Conference, Sydney, Australia)

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008 by Casey Glass
June 13, 2008
3:00 pmto4:00 pm

Speaker: Patrick Kennedy
There is much confusion and ignorance regarding information architecture
(IA) and it’s place in web design. Many developers, like their design
counterparts, are operating under misconceptions, hearsay and indeed
disinformation. Because of this, many feel threatened by some ‘usability
guy’ telling them what to do.

Redesign Must Die (Champaign, IL, USA)

Monday, April 21st, 2008 by Rachel Weber
April 30, 2008
8:00 am

Lou Rosenfeld will be presenting the keynote address and a breakout session at the Campus Webmasters’ 9th Annual Webmasters Forum on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This year’s theme is Redesign. Lou’s keynote, entitled “Redesign Must Die”, is sure to spark some lively discussion.

Lou’s breakout session entitled “Site Search Analytics: Conversations With Your Customers” covers the basics of search analytics for web designers, showing how you can identify, diagnose, and fix major problems with your site’s content, metadata, navigation, and search functions.

About the Webmaster Forum

Now in its 9th year, the Annual Webmaster Forum has become something of a campus institution. We’re not sure if that’s good or bad, but soon we can all start saying that we’ve got 10 years of experience. Once again we’ve got a great keynote, a plethora of practical breakout sessions, the annual Cool Website Awards, and the proverbial free lunch. Past Forum keynotes include Jason Fried, Steve Krug, Christine Perfetti and Eric Meyer.
