HCIS-2008 (Milan, Italy)

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008 by Conference Editor
September 7, 2008toSeptember 10, 2008

The 1st IFIP Human-Computer Interaction Symposium, HCIS-2008, will be held in conjunction with 20th IFIP World Computer Congress (a combination of twelve technical conferences).

The domain of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is a multidisciplinary, active and focal area of both research and industrial application. As the influence and use of computing capability grows, so does the recognition that computing systems will be required to conform to many other criteria than simply those of computing performance. The criteria of usability, acceptability, user satisfaction, accessibility and suitability for user and organisational needs are some of those which are particularly the province of experts in Human-Computer Interaction.

The 1st IFIP Human-Computer Interaction Symposium attempts to bring the various fields together and will highlight the research and industrial importance of the Human-Computer Interaction area and its most recent breakthroughs on current applications. Topics:

  • Methodologies for user centred system design
  • Human-Work Interaction Design
  • User interface engineering
  • Accessibility and disability
  • Human error, safety and system development
  • Education in HCI
  • HCI in Ubiquitous Environments
  • Cultural differences in HCI
  • Ambient intelligent environments
  • Human-computer dialogue system

Organized by IFIP Technical Committee 13 Human-Computer Interaction.

April 5, 2008toApril 10, 2008

CHI 2008 focuses on the balance between art and science, design and research, practical motivation and the process that leads the way to innovative excellence. It is about balance in our rapidly evolving field, the balance between individuals and groups, collocated and remote, stationary and mobile, in both our local and global communities.
