This month’s IA Cocktail Hour Tokyo will be held on November 27th (Thursday), at Rakuten Inc., in Shinagawa Sea-side, with Rakuten UI/IA team as a speaker.

As you know (if you live in Japan), Rakuten Ichiba is a successful biggest online shopping mall in Japan since its start in late 1990’s. With their experience and perspectives, we will discuss the meaning of being as an Internal IA team and as an external (Vender’s) IA team.

10月9日（木）にIAカクテルアワーを行います。
今回は少し趣向を変えてUI設計や次世代インタラクションの可能性などにフォーカスをあてた形で行いたいと思います。

ノルウェーのElliptic Labs社に、彼らが持つタッチレスパネル（ジェスチャーUI）の技術デモをCEO自らの実演してもらえる機会を頂きました。まだ基礎技術の段階ですが、普段、WebサイトのUI設計やインタラクション設計に携わっている皆さんの視線で、このような技術にどういう可能性があるのか、ざっくばらんに意見交換できればと思います。

Forum 2008, we will host a F2F after party in conjunction with DESIGN IT! to celebrating Dan Saffer (Experience Design Director of Adaptive Path) with the release of Japanese version of his Interaction Design book and his first offical visit Japan. One of the primary UX event in Japan, DESIGN IT!, will host another new events called “DESIGN IT! The Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Virtual Agents, IVA 2008, is the major annual meeting of the intelligent virtual agents community, attracting interdisciplinary minded researchers and practitioners from embodied cognitive modeling, artificial intelligence, computer graphics, animation, virtual worlds, games, natural language processing, and human-computer interaction. The conference will gather researchers studying different aspects in the creation of, and interaction with virtual agents.

Intelligent Virtual Agents (IVAs) are autonomous, graphically embodied agents in a virtual environment that are able to interact intelligently with human users, other IVAs, and their environment.
