A few folks picked up on our “soft launch” and announced it to their readers.

A Soft Launch for UXnet

Monday, June 21st, 2004 by Keith Instone

Welcome to the blog for UXnet. We kick off this blog and UXnet in general with a soft-launch on June 21st.

In general, we will use the UXnet blog to raise awareness of User Experience as an umbrella term for collaboration and cooperation. This will include news of what we are doing here as part of UXnet, but also other activities happening in the community at-large.

Although the purpose of our soft-launch was to stay pretty low-key as we initiated discussions with people and organizations, we did get a little bit of coverage:

UPA supports UXnet

Tuesday, June 8th, 2004 by Keith Instone

The Usability Professionals’ Association (UPA) has agreed to continue its support of UXnet. Back in January of 2003 the UPA Board of Directors enthusiastically agreed to the idea of an umbrella organization for user experience. Now, UPA has again stated its support.

UPA members come from many disciplines. In addition to full-time usability specialists, there are managers, programmers, information architects, user interface designers, interaction designers (to name a few) who are interested in improving the usability of the work they create. The benefits of coordination and cooperation are obvious, and will only strengthen everyone under the UX umbrella.

Thank you for your continued support, UPA! Whitney Quesenbery, as a UXnet executive council member and President of UPA, has obviously been crucial in making these connections.
